ECHOES 2026: Youth Gather for Leadership, Learning, and Collective Growth at BIRDY

Inauguration of Echoes 2026 at Don Bosco Loves You, Photo Point, BIRDY

ECHOES 2026, a province-level youth formation programme of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) under the Province of St Joseph, Hyderabad, was successfully conducted at BIRDY, Hyderabad, from 25 to 27 January 2026, bringing together young participants from various Salesian presences across Telangana for an intensive three-day programme of leadership, learning, and personal formation. This event is coordinated by Fr Yeruva Joji, the province youth director, with the collaboration of province regional youth directors.

The programme formally commenced with the inauguration of the “Don Bosco Loves You” photo point, symbolizing the Salesian charism of accompaniment and affirmation of young people. The core of ECHOES 2026 consisted of a series of structured inputs, group animations, and guided discussions addressing contemporary youth realities. Key focus areas included life skills, faith and values, responsible use of technology, ecological responsibility, and civic awareness. Through participatory methods and group work, participants reflected on real-life situations and explored practical responses relevant to their social and personal contexts.

Leadership development and personal growth formed a significant component of the programme. Sessions on designing one’s dream, vocational awareness, and career guidance encouraged participants to critically reflect on their future pathways and responsibilities as young leaders. Interactive methodologies ensured active participation, peer learning, and sustained engagement throughout the programme. Daily prayer moments, reflections, provided space for spiritual reflection and shared learning. Evening cultural programmes and creative expressions offered participants opportunities to showcase their talents, build confidence, and strengthen group bonding, fostering a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere.

ECHOES 2026 at Hyderabad formed part of a wider province-level initiative, with similar regional programmes conducted earlier in the month. The Rayalaseema Region hosted ECHOES 2026 at Don Bosco, Kadapa from 2 to 4 January 2026, followed by the Guntur–Vijayawada Region at Don Bosco, Guntur from 12 to 14 January 2026, and the Vizag Region at Don Bosco, Narsipatnam from 16 to 18 January 2026. Each regional gathering focused on the same formative vision, adapted to local contexts, ensuring wider youth participation across the province.

The Hyderabad programme concluded with a valedictory session and collective reflection, during which participants shared their insights, learning experiences, and key takeaways. ECHOES 2026 thus stood out as a significant provincial initiative aimed at empowering young people to become responsible, faith-filled, and socially conscious leaders, inspired by the Salesian vision of Don Bosco.
